Participants:
There will be high schools of all sizes and classifications attending our team camps. We have had schools from across the state of Georgia, as well as Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama attend Bob Hoffman Basketball Camp. All teams attending will play competitive and challenging games.
Athletic Trainers:
A trainer from Mercer University will be on hand to handle injuries or other medical issues that may arise.
Facilities:
Mercer’s University Center has 5 full-size courts. We also have access to church and high school gyms located close by.
Transportation:
Mercer’s University Center is the home of 5 basketball courts that are within walking distance to/from the dorms where boarding coaches/campers stay. Directions are provided when gyms off our campus are used for camp games, however, transportation is sometimes available and provided.
Food and Lodging:
Boarders will lodge in one of Mercer University’s air-conditioned dorms, within walking distance to the University Center and cafeteria. For teams that are boarding, all meals will be provided. Commuting teams have the option of purchasing the meals served in the gym at $5.00 per meal, per player. Meals served in the cafeteria during camp are not available to commuting teams! Most meals are served in Hawkins Arena for the convenience of the teams and their playing schedules. Please contact Camp Director, Elvis Kisonas (478-550-0954), if you are the coach of a commuting team interested in purchasing the meals served in Hawkins Arena.
Games:
Unless a coach requests differently, each team is guaranteed 3 games on the 1st day, 3 games on the 2nd day, and 2 games on the 3rd day of camp.
Officiating:
A huge feature in our camp is the fact that we pay help facilitate a way for GHSAA officials to officiate most all team camp games. In fact, there is typically a Referee's Camp on Mercer's campus in conjunction with our team camps, allowing for them to gain experience and expertise. They practice by calling our Bob Hoffman Basketball Team Camp games.
Game Rules:
All games will follow the GHSAA Game Rules with a few, minor alterations. Our aim is to make our camp games as much like a regulation game as possible.
Scheduling:
Scheduling will begin a few days prior to each camp starting. Occasionally minor adjustments have to be made, due to unforeseen issues. If you have special scheduling requests, you must contact Elvis Kisonas at 478-550-0954.
The requirements for Attendance are that schools pay the non-refunable deposit and a very reasonable registration fee appropriate for its level of participation. Before leaving home, a parent/guardian of each participant (regardless of young man's role on the team (player, manager, injured player attending but not playing, etc.) must complete the Mercer University Facilities Usage/Release and Waiver of Liability Form. It must be signed by the parent/guardian and witnessed by another person over the age of 18. That witness (who also signs the form) is typically the coach of the team coming to camp. That form can be found under "files and forms" and downloaded for printing, right here on the homepage of our website.
