During Howard’s first four seasons with the team, his coordinating efforts have helped Mercer book 34 road wins. In addition to his in-season responsibilities, Howard also helps promote and assist the annual Bob Hoffman Basketball Camps.
Last August, Howard helped coordinate the team’s international trip to Germany and Lithuania. At the start of the 2014-15 season, Howard will play a key organizational role as the squad travels to Anchorage for the Great Alaskan Shootout.
In his time at Mercer, Howard has crisscrossed the nation with the team, administering trips to Colorado, Connecticut, Indiana, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, the US Virgin Islands, Utah and a myriad of Southeastern states.
Howard was with the Mercer program, serving as the team’s chaplain and volunteer graduate manager from 2009-11, as well. Among his duties were leading team devotionals, as well as assisting with game-day operations, laundry and practice, among other responsibilities.
Howard has also worked numerous youth summer camps and as a recreation intern in various church ministries over the years.
Howard earned his bachelor’s degree in communications, with a minor in history, from Oklahoma University in 2006. He also earned his Masters of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2011.
Howard and his wife, Mandie, were married in July of 2007. The couple reside in Macon with their daughter Lauren and son Brady.
